SEE Camp is run by students from the Society of Women Engineers at the University of Michigan. In addition to the Directors and Officers listed below, there are about ten other student camp counselors.

When is SEE Camp?
July 6th to July 12th, 2025

Who is eligible to attend?
High school students of all genders going into grades 10-11, especially those with limited access to engineering resources.

What does it mean for a student to have limited access to engineering?
A student has limited access to engineering resources if they experience a barrier to these resources. This barrier could be geographical such as those imposed or limited by school curricula, internet reliability, or transportation. A barrier could also be financial such as those imposed by material costs or enrollment fees. It could also be relational such as extensive familial responsibilities, or connections to those with a higher degree. This list is not exhaustive.

Do I have to be a U.S. citizen to apply?
No, you don't!

We do not live in Michigan. Will there be other people from out-of-state?
Yes! In the past, SEE Camp has had many out of state and even international campers.

Is room and board provided?
Yes! Students will all stay in a University dorm on campus where food will also be provided.
Application and Admissions

Is the application open? Where is it?
The application will open January 8th, 2025 and will be published on our website.

When is the application due?
The application is due by 11:59 PM EST on Saturday, March 1st, 2025.

When can I expect to hear back about SEE Camp?
Decisions will be emailed to applicants by mid-April.

How competitive is admission into SEE Camp?
In 2023, we received over 600 applications and accepted 40 students.

How does the admissions process work?
Once the application closes, multiple people from the camp staff review each application.

Do I need to send in my ACT/SAT scores? Do I need to send in my GPA?
ACT/SAT scores and GPA are not a part of the SEE Camp application.
Finances

How much does it cost?
The cost for camp is $700, which includes room and board for the duration of camp.

What if I can't afford to pay for SEE Camp?
Need-based financial aid will be available for camp fees and flights to/from camp. While financial aid for domestic and international flights will be considered, international flights will be given priority. Please note that there is a separate application for financial aid that will be sent after acceptance to camp.

What is the refund policy?
Students will have 10 days after receiving their acceptance to accept their spot at camp, and the financial aid documents will be due at the end of this period as well. Students will have an additional four weeks to complete payment. After this time has passed, if a student needs to withdraw, then a prorated refund will be offered, depending on proximity to camp dates.
